What a Great Time to Learn and Celebrate

Happy New Year to all! It’s a time of reflection, but more importantly a time to look ahead while setting a few goals. Some, of course, we’ll actually achieve. I love our cover for the last issue (November/December) because it reminded me of how I learned to ski at the age of 50.

I’m not particularly graceful, and I’ll probably never leave the beginner-friendly green slopes, but I was so proud of myself. Collectively, perhaps we can work on listening more as well—raising our vocabulary, lowering the volume and having meaningful, in-person conversations and human connections. The arts are a great conduit for such a goal.

As we enter 2026, let your people sing and leave some space in your heart for the imaginable. I recently heard someone say, “Everything has some sort of crack, nothing is perfect. But that’s how the light gets in.” You just never know where that light might originate.

It’s a great time to try something new, and we are blessed to have so many opportunities in our community to experience life, laughter and forge new friendships.

This year marks the 250th birthday of our country. Consequently, many of our cultural partners will showcase this milestone throughout the year with special programming.

Crealdé School of Art, for example, will start the year off with an exhibition aptly titled American Mosaic: Stories in Color, Clay and Canvas, which will celebrate the diverse voices in our country through a variety of media (see “American Stories“).

Orlando Science Center will celebrate a major achievement of its own: the renovation and grand reopening of its Dome—formerly known as the CineDome (see “Out of this World“)—which is being transformed into an immersive, state-of-the-art experience with full-dome digital projection and high-fidelity audio.

Transitioning to digital, among other upgrades, will make the viewer’s experience even more impressive. This is truly a Central Florida gem, so check out the story and mark your calendars.

To quote the late Diane Keaton: “Memories are simply moments that refuse to be ordinary.” Here’s to making some fabulous memories in 2026 and staying upright on your skis.

Cheers!
