When Benoit Glazer moved his wife, Elaine Corriveau, and three toddlers from Montreal to Orlando in 1988, he was surprised to find that “it was incredibly difficult to find live music during the week.”
So Glazer, then conductor and music director at Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba, and Corriveau, a talented pianist and music educator, decided to organize a concert in their suburban living room. In 2007 they built a combined personal residence and state-of-the-art, 100-seat performing-arts venue in the SoDo District.
Since then, the Timucua Arts Foundation—which the couple started—has hosted an eclectic array of concerts, films, plays and spoken-word events at their 4,900-square-foot, acoustically pristine “White House.” Next up is the Orlando Latin Jazz Festival, set for Friday and Saturday, April 4 and 5, at 7:30 p.m.
Opening the festival on Friday night will be M&M, which consists of the husband-and-wife team of Marty and Michiko Morell. Marty is a world-renowned jazz drummer best known for his seven-year tenure (1968 to 1975) as a member of the legendary Bill Evans Trio, while Michiko is a classically trained percussionist and singer (and a native of Japan) who often performs Latin jazz vocals in Spanish.
Saturday night will bring Origen, a Latin jazz collective led by Diego Rivera. He’s a world-class saxophonist, composer and educator who has performed with the Dr. Phillips Center Jazz Orchestra and served as director of jazz studies at the University of Texas Austin’s Butler School of Music. Vocalist Giselle Bellas also performs with Origen.
The Orlando Latin Jazz Festival is part of the ongoing 2026 Timucua Jazz Series. The White House is located at 2000 South Summerlin Street, Orlando. For more information, call 407.279.0902 or visit timucua.com.
