On display at The Art of Fashion, in addition to fall offerings from iconic local boutiques, will be a stunning haute couture gown designed by Bernard Foong and Aref Zebian. Among the participating artists will be Atlanta-based Holly Irwin, whose illustrations include Ocean Blue.

Fashion can be iconic, as in Audrey Hepburn’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s look from 1961. Fashion can spur invention, such as it did when Jennifer Lopez’s green jungle print Donatella Versace dress prompted Google to launch Google Images in 2001. And fashion certainly inspires art—and can be considered art in and of itself.

Celebrate the art of style and the style of art at Solana Fine Art’s new exhibition, The Art of Fashion, which runs through September 27. The event—close on the heels of the gallery’s summer showcase, which paired art with interior design—will feature curated works of fine art along with the fall fashion collections from the most stylish boutiques in Winter Park.

Tuni, Be On Park and John Craig Clothier, all iconic clothing and jewelry retailers with long histories on Park Avenue, were the project’s fashion partners and will dress the mannequins. Also on display will be a stunning haute couture gown designed by Bernard Foong—whose work was featured at Orlando Museum of Art’s Runway in Bloom in April—and Aref Zebian.

Their creation will be accompanied by original artwork by Foong, who in addition to being an acclaimed clothing designer is an author and visual artist. “This exhibition is a celebration of personal expression through both fashion and art,” says Bob Jimenez, founder and gallerist of Solana Fine Art. “It’s about how color, texture, form, and detail communicate something deeply individual.”

The Art of Fashion will also feature fashion-inspired works from four nationally recognized guest artists. Among them are Holly Irwin, from Atlanta, who is known for her painterly expressions of femininity and fashion; and Doug Powell, from Oviedo, who has won kudos for his sculptural mosaic works made from recycled computer keys.

Also participating will be Cristiam Ramos, who makes inventive use of such nontraditional materials as denim and candy to create vivid portraits and pop art; and Ben Van Beusekom, who creates fantastical, couture-inspired sculptures from dazzling gemstones, beads and Swarovski crystals. Both are from Orlando.

“Art and fashion have long been synonymous with Winter Park, and we are thrilled Solana Fine Art is pairing the two in this incredible installation,” says Alan Chambers, vice president of John Craig and its sister store, Current.

Adds Jimenez: “We were very intentional about the timing of this show, approaching it as a fall season preview of fashion, and we’re excited to bring this first-time event to the community.”

Solana Fine Art is located at 1104 Solana Avenue, Winter Park. For more information, visit solanafineart.com or call 321.972.1774.
