For its 11th annual Divas Gala, the Steinway Society of Central Florida will present Sisaundra Lewis, the Haines City pop phenomenon best known as a quarter-finalist on Season 6 of TV’s The Voice.
Lewis—an accomplished singer, songwriter, producer and choreographer who has worked with everyone from Celine Dion to Janet Jackson—will perform selections from her celebrated run on The Voice at the heart-tugging event, which will showcase the Steinway Society’s ongoing initiative to provide pianos and lessons to disadvantaged children.
A local girl made good, Lewis was born in Lake Hamilton and scored a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart in 2005 with her debut single, “Shout.” She now hosts The Sisaundra Show, a variety series, and AFROJams, a concert series, both on cable’s AFRO TV.
In addition to Lewis’s performance, the gala—to be held at Orlando Museum of Art on Sunday, September 14, beginning at 5:30 p.m.—will offer a buffet, a cash bar and a silent auction, as well as performances by the recipients of last year’s Jackie Jones Scholarship.
The award for aspiring pianists was launched last year to honor the beloved Jones, who died in 2024. She was a local blues legend who helped to establish the Steinway Society. This year’s scholarship winner, 10-year-old Bodhi Nayhee, will also play at the gala.
Now in its 19th year, the Steinway Society serves 15 schools and gives weekly piano lessons to some 350 students. Twice yearly, the organization—in partnership with Helpful Hands, a charity that aids families in crisis—gifts 15 to 20 pianos to deserving youngsters. Now that’s something to shout about.
Orlando Museum of Art is located at 2416 North Mills Avenue, Orlando, in Loch Haven Cultural Park. For more information, call or visit the Steinway Society website.
